Yuma County Library District Joins GPO Program

đánh lô đề online WASHINGTON —The U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) welcomes Arizona’s Yuma County Library District as a new member of GPO's Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP). Congressman Raúl M. Grijalva (D-AZ) designated the library to be part of the program. The library, which has eight branches, will provide people in Yuma, located on the border of California and Arizona, with no-cost access to Federal Government information. The library will offer both tangible and electronic Federal publications.

“We at GPO welcome the Yuma County Library District to the FDLP and thank Congressman Grijalva for bringing the eight branches of this library into this longstanding program," said GPO Director Hugh Nathanial Halpern. “Libraries play a critical role in helping GPO carry out its 159-year mission of Keeping America Informed on the three branches of the Federal Government. We look forward to partnering with Yuma County Library District to expand public access to Federal Government information in the Desert Southwest.”

“I applaud Yuma County Library District’s commitment to serve the people of this region and am confident they will be excellent stewards of this information,” said Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva. “I congratulate them on this honor and look forward to seeing this important public service offered to the people of Southwestern Arizona.”

Through the FDLP, GPO works with more than 1,100 libraries nationwide to provide public access to authentic, published information from all three branches of the Federal Government in print and electronic formats. Yuma County Library District joins a program whose antecedents can be traced back to the act of Congress dated December 27, 1813 (3 Stat. 140), which provided that one copy of the journals and documents of the Senate and House be sent to each university and college and each historical society in each state. GPO has operated the Federal Depository Library Program since 1895.

GPO is the Federal Government’s official, digital, secure resource for producing, procuring, cataloging, indexing, authenticating, disseminating, and preserving the official information products of the U.S. Government. The GPO is responsible for the production and distribution of information products and services for all three branches of the Federal Government, including U.S. passports for the Department of State as well as the official publications of Congress, the White House, and other Federal agencies in digital and print formats. GPO provides for permanent public access to Federal Government information at no charge through  and partnerships with approximately 1,100 libraries nationwide participating in the Federal Depository Library Program.
